Pain Management

Pain perception is confusing, very personal and subjective. No two people experience it in the same way.

Pain can be acute (recent) or chronic (persisting from long time). It can be musculoskeletal, neuropathic, post injury, etc.

When you want freedom from acute or chronic pain, it is important to have access to effective treatment.

At REVIVE, pain management program uses a combination of physical, psychological and practical methods to help reduce your pain, physical difficulties and distress which in turn helps in improving your quality of life. The program would combine several techniques with the aim of reducing your pain.

The therapist may focus on decreasing pain with either passive or active therapy. Examples of passive techniques include:

  • Heat/ice packs
  • TENS units
  • Ultrasound

Examples of active techniques include:

  • Stretching and range of motion exercises
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Pain-relief exercises
  • Low-impact aerobic conditioning

An important aspect to bear in mind about physiotherapy and pain relief is that individuals may respond differently to therapy. People have different types of bodies, different patterns of movement, different alignments and different habits. Our physiotherapists will monitor each individual and attempt to correct improper habits, postural alignments and movement patterns

Our integrated pain service focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of painful conditions. Timely treatment can prevent pain from aggravating and becoming chronic and therefore reduce the need for surgical intervention, if any.
